Ledbury Town Football Club are delighted to announce the formation of Ledbury Town Swifts, the club’s newest men’s team.
The team will enter the Herefordshire FA’s County League Division 2 and will serve to give more under 18s players from the youth teams at Ledbury Swifts FC the opportunity to gain experience in adult football.
Ledbury Swifts started the team last season to give more adults in the town the opportunity to play. By becoming part of Ledbury Town, the move provides even more young players in Ledbury the opportunity to progress, and with a pathway into our First and Reserve teams. While continuing to play home matches from the Ross Road, Ledbury Town Swifts will now train with our First and Reserve teams.
The stronger links between Ledbury Town and Ledbury Swifts will ensure that the transition from youth to adult football is smoother and will help increase adult participation.
Chairman Pete Boyle said: “Ledbury Town FC benefits from the excellent work done by Ledbury Swifts as almost all of our players, coaches, and committee members played for Swifts when they were younger. The build a better future for football in the town it is important that the two clubs work closely, and by moving their men’s team across to Ledbury Town means there’s a better chance those young players that the Swifts are producing will stay in the game into adult football.”
